Best Restaurants for Lunch in Downtown Long Beach

Downtown Long Beach offers a wide range of lunch spots to suit every taste and vibe. From pubs to upscale dining, the area is home to some of the city’s most popular and beloved restaurants. So, whether you're in the mood for fresh seafood, handmade tacos or global-inspired dishes, you're sure to find something to satisfy your cravings and, best of all, they are all just a short walk from the Long Beach Convention Center.

OCEAN BOULEVARD

The largest east-west thoroughfare adjacent to the convention center, Ocean Boulevard offers a range of lunch choices. Buono’s Pizzeria (250 W Ocean Blvd) is great for pizza and pasta as is Modica’s Deli (455 E Ocean Blvd), which also has a delicious Caprese sandwich and some of the best pastrami in town. In the mood for Mexican? Beach Hut Deli (180 E Ocean Blvd, Ste 170) is the closest to the convention center promenade, and offers great sandwiches and salads at a wallet-friendly price.

PINE AVENUE

Pine Avenue is the heart of nightlife and entertainment in Downtown Long Beach, but there are plenty of great options during the day. Enjoy a classic seafood lunch at King’s Fish House (100 W Broadway), with oysters, sushi, seasonal catches, and a menu that changes daily. Altar Society Brewing and Coffee Co. (230 Pine Ave) offers a menu of hearty pub food, like wings, sliders, and pizza that pair perfectly with their house-brewed beers. Shannon’s on Pine (209 Pine Ave) serves Mexican dishes and burgers as well as its popular wings and their blow-your-mind pastrami chili cheese fries.

SHORELINE VILLAGE

Several restaurants are clustered together in Shoreline Village (429 Shoreline Village Dr), including Parkers’ Lighthouse (435-A Shoreline Village Dr), which offers an enticing menu of seafood and steaks with a view of the Queen Mary. Bring your whole group for a fun lunch at Louisiana Charlie’s (429-H Shoreline Village Dr), Shenanigan’s Irish Pub & Grille (423-A Shoreline Village Dr), Tequila Jack’s (407 Shoreline Village Dr), or Yard House (401 Shoreline Village Dr). All four restaurants offer patio dining with fantastic views of the harbor.

THE PIKE OUTLETS

Adjacent to the convention center, The Pike Outlets offers several shopping and dining options, and includes a strip of restaurants overlooking Rainbow Harbor. The lunch menu at P.F. Chang's (340 S Pine Ave) features dishes like Mongolian beef and crispy honey shrimp. Head to Gladstone’s (330 S Pine Ave) for your seafood fix and views of the harbor and lighthouse. The Auld Dubliner (71 S Pine Ave) is directly across from the convention center steps and offers an authentic Irish pub experience, complete with shepherd’s pie and a Guinness beef stew. Or, you know, just Guinness.

PROMENADE

The Promenade is a pedestrian walkway between Ocean Boulevard and Third Street lined with restaurants and ending at Harvey Milk Promenade Park. Enjoy delicious lunch specials and craft beer at ISM Brewing (210 E 3rd St). The Ordinarie (210 The Promenade N) offers creative takes on American classics, including its amazing chicken pot pie bites. Go a few steps farther across Third Street for barbecue and cocktails at Broken Spirits Distillery (300 The Promenade N), Mediterranean delights at Ammatoli (285 E 3rd St), one of the city’s most beloved restaurants, or enjoy amazing tacos and burritos created with handmade tortillas at Sonoratown (244 E 3rd St).

EAST VILLAGE ARTS DISTRICT

For feel-good comfort food, visit Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘n Waffles (730 E Broadway), the legendary soul food restaurant with an attached jazz club. Enjoy a slice of quiche, a baguette sandwich, or savory crepes at Creme de la Crepe (400 E 1st St), a charming French bistro in the East Village. If you’re in the mood for breakfast for lunch, The Breakfast Bar (70 Atlantic Ave) is a popular Downtown brunch spot serving a robust menu of sweet and savory breakfast dishes, many passed down as family recipes.
