Get inspired by the exhibits or make some of your own art at Compound (1395 Coronado Ave), a space that hosts art installations and workshops and includes an outdoor sculpture garden. Visit in the afternoon or evening–they’re open 4-10PM Wednesday through Saturday and 2-8PM on Sunday–and admission is free. Compound also houses a new restaurant called Union, serving seasonal California cuisine with Southeast Asian ingredients and flavors. Pair your meal with one of their innovative cocktails or sample from their list of amaros.

Good Time (1322 Coronado Ave) is primarily a coffee and breakfast burrito shop, but also serves as the kind of space where you feel comfortable lingering. It has ample large tables and seating in various configurations and hosts pop-ups like Vida Plant Shop, which fills the space with beautiful greenery. It also offers a selection of beer and wine and as well as retail items for sale such as locally made candles and ceramics to apparel.

Or stop around the corner on Anaheim and try Los Compadres, where the margaritas are sizable and the tortillas are made fresh.
