Long Beach Fall Favorites: Get Your Cozy On
While the change from summer to fall is seasonally subtle in Long Beach, it does get a bit cooler (sometimes), and the sun sets earlier in the evening. So it’s time to enjoy seasonal delights, like cozy clothes, comforting candles, and pumpkin-flavored everything. Here are a few spots around Long Beach where you can find autumnal indulgences, from fall garb to tasty treats.
SWEATER WEATHER
Refresh your closet for fall at The Pike Outlets (95 S Pine Ave). For flannels, hoodies, fleece, beanies, and down jackets, Columbia Sportswear will outfit the whole family for fall hikes and other outdoor adventures. Or you can represent Cal State Long Beach with some CSULB gear from the University Bookstore (6049 E 7th St), which stocks lots of Beach sweatshirts, beanies, and scarves.
HOLIDAY GOODS
One of the best parts about the fall season is anticipating the fall holidays. Stock up on Halloween candy at Candy Warehouse (2520 Mira Mar Ave), where you can find bulk candy of all kinds, including some that are more unusual–jelly-filled gummy brains, anyone? While you can reserve your Thanksgiving pies at The Pie Bar (450 Pine Ave), there is no reason to wait until November to enjoy their Dutch Apple, Smores, or Salted Caramel Pie. If you can’t decide on a flavor, create a Frankenpie made up of your choice of six different slices.
GET COZY WITH CANDLES
Yo Louie is a local small-batch candle making company that offers its soy wax candles for sale online and in Good Time (1322 Coronado Ave), a cafe in the Zaferia district. Yo Louie has several scents reminiscent of fall, like Petrichor (wet earth, eucalyptus) and Toasted (roasted marshmallow, vanilla, and clove). Plus, they are soon launching a fall collection (think clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, and pumpkin spice). Additionally, their firestarters are perfect for your autumn campfires.
