First Fridays in Bixby Knolls
First Fridays are an enjoyable way to unwind from a busy week.
One of the reasons I (and many others) love Long Beach is because there is so much diversity in this large California city. Each neighborhood offers a completely separate feel from the others. Belmont Shore, for example, emits a small beach town feel, while 4th Street (aka Retro Row) boasts a more vintage or hipster vibe. The best part is that each neighborhood hosts unique events for its community, creating a special bond between the people who live there. Although Long Beach is a big city, its community and character remain authentic, thanks to close-knit neighborhood events. First Fridays are one example of these Long Beach experiences. First Fridays take place in the Bixby Knolls neighborhood each month and pose as a way for people to have a great time and unwind for the weekend surrounded by art and lively activities.
First Fridays started years ago as a smaller gathering but have recently grown into a staple, block party-style event for the Bixby Knolls community. Local artists come out to entertain and show off their work, while some businesses stay open later for a chance to help local artists and get the word out about their own store. These events truly showcase a sense of the community’s support for each other.
First Fridays are an enjoyable way to unwind from the week, so we highly recommend attending when you can. Start the first weekend of the month making new friends (or meeting your regular group) in the Bixby Knolls community and see what the local artists and businesses are up to.
To keep up with the theme of the affair and all of the month's happenings, go to the First Fridays website or check out their social media pages.
