Long Beach Drag Shows
In terms of pure entertainment and just plain fun, it’s hard to beat a drag show. And Long Beach is one of the best places to enjoy great ones. While many places in town offer drag shows from time to time, these three local hotspots offer multiple shows, multiple times each week in settings that range from the iconic to the idyllic. Have a look and have some fun!
HAMBURGER MARY’S
Arguably the first place that comes to mind when you think of Long Beach drag performance, Hamburger Mary’s has multiple shows, Wednesday through Sunday every week, including Wild Wednesdays, Delish Thursdays and Dining with Divas on Saturdays. But Mary’s most popular performance continues to be its raucous Saturday and Sunday brunch show packed with lots of performers as well as great food and, yep, mimosas by the glass or enjoyed in the restaurant’s signature 20-ounce leg glasses.
EXECUTIVE SUITE
Given that the fun sprawls over all of its three levels, the Executive Suite’s (3428 E. Pacific Coast Hwy.) drag shows, which take place Thursday-Saturday, can be enjoyed on their own or as part of an epic evening. Drag shows take place on the Suite’s upper, third level, along with dancing and go-go dancers. Its popular Lipstick Divas show recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. On the main, second level you’ll find karaoke, Tuesday through Saturday, as well as pool tables and video games. (The bottom level is reserved for private events.)
BEACH GARDEN SOCIAL HOUSE
Perhaps the most picturesque setting for a drag show, Beach Garden Social House’s (1923 E. Broadway) Beach Garden Babes brunch show takes place twice every Saturday with late morning and early afternoon performances. Where it takes place is a rather idyllic patio, located as it is just across from Bluff Park, where cafe lights, fire pits and green fauna lend the place a warm glow. The outdoor venue not only boasts craft cocktails with fresh juices, but Latin-inspired, family recipes as well as bottomless mimosas.
