NFL Kickoff Experience is Coming to Long Beach
J Balvin, one of world music’s best-selling and most streamed artists, will headline the 2022 NFL Kickoff Concert, September 8, at Alamitos Beach in Long Beach.
The concert is part of the NFL Kickoff Experience at Alamitos Beach celebrating the start of the 2022 NFL season, which kicks off later that evening with a season-opening Thursday night game between the Buffalo Bills and defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium in nearby Inglewood. The free NFL Kickoff Experience opens at 12 p.m., with J Balvin taking the stage at 4 p.m.
“I got a glimpse of the incredible NFL fandom during the Super Bowl Halftime performance in Miami in 2020,” said Balvin, a reggaeton superstar from Columbia who has sold more than 35 million records and ranks in the top 10 of the most streamed artists, globally. “That year we closed things out with a great game and a massive party. This season, to kick things off, we’re celebrating even harder and getting even louder.”
Balvin’s performance will be streamed in full on NFL.com, the NFL app as well as on select NFL social media platforms, with portions of the performance broadcast on NBC and NFL Network’s pregame show coverage.
The NFL Kickoff Experience will be free and open to the public, offering fans the opportunity to get closer to the game with interactive games, photo opportunities with the Vince Lombardi Trophy, a chance to view all of the 56 Super Bowl rings, and a lot more. Though the NFL Kickoff is free, it will be necessary for fans to register for tickets, which they can do by visiting NFL.com/2022kickoff.
The event will be able to accommodate the anticipated large crowd since Alamitos Beach, located at the intersection of Shoreline Drive and Alamitos Ave., is a wide, expansive beach, ideal for hosting such an event. The westernmost section of Long Beach’s more than five miles of beach, Alamitos Beach is intersected by Long Beach’s popular bicycle and pedestrian path and is close to the city’s thriving downtown area featuring plenty of dining options.
Following J Balvin’s performance, fans will be invited to stay for the 2022 Kickoff Watch Party to view the Bills-Rams game on screens throughout the event site.
