Street Festivals in Downtown Long Beach
The Downtown Long Beach Alliance is curating a series of free events called Summer on Pine! For two weeks, August 24 to September 6, 2024, Pine Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic between Broadway and Third Street, creating a pedestrian zone and a gathering space for street festivals and special events. THE BIG GAY PINE AVE TAKEOVER
Get ready for live music, carnival games, shopping, drag performances, tasty food, a full bar, and an evening of dancing at The Big Gay Pine Ave Takeover on August 24! Presented by Be Proud! Fest, this event will take place from 4 to 10PM, and proceeds will go toward Be Proud! Fest on September 28. Register online in advance to attend and be automatically entered into a drawing for a VIP upgrade.
POP SUNSET
August 28
Pop Sunset: A Community Wellness & Sustainability Event on August 28 from 5 to 9PM will feature offerings that are good for you and good for the planet, too. From fitness classes and healthy food from local restaurants to eco-friendly shopping, Pop Sunset provides the chance to enjoy the car-free streets while exploring sustainable health and wellness. Try a free yoga or Zumba session, stop for a massage, check out live DJs, and visit mental health educators or learn more about living a zero-waste lifestyle and microplastics. ROLLER DISCO
Grab your skates! During Summer on Pine, you will have two chances to rock and roll down Pine Avenue on wheels. Roller Disco will be held on August 29 and September 5 from 5 to 9PM, allowing you to show off your skating skills and enjoy the streets car-free.
ASCEND ON PINE
September 6
With house music and art bringing Pine Avenue to life, Ascend on Pine will happen on September 6 from 4 to 10PM. The Burning Man-inspired experience will be curated by LB Living and Playalarga Events, with art and radical expression taking center stage. Take to the streets to immerse yourself in creativity and good vibes.
VIVA LONG BEACH
On September 7 from 2 to 7PM, Downtown Long Beach will kickoff Hispanic Heritage Month with Viva Long Beach, the second annual celebration that highlights Latino culture in the city. The festival includes an amazing lineup of live performers like rock bands, mariachi and folklorico groups, food and drink (think tacos, pupusas, and churros), and vendors selling goods like bilingual children’s books, jewelry, handmade candles, and more.
