The College Music Society will hold its 65th National Conference in Long Beach, California, September 22–24, 2022, in conjunction with the 2022 National Conferences of the Association for Technology in Music Instruction (ATMI), the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors (NACWPI), and Pi Kappa Lambda (PKL).
The conference program presents higher education's broadest array of topics dealing with music. Academic citizenship, administration, music business and industry, careers in music, community engagement, composition, cultural inclusion, ethnomusicology, higher education, mentoring, music education, music in general studies, music technology, music theory, musicology, performance, and the scholarship of teaching and learning are explored in a variety of formats. Through papers, performances, lecture-recitals, panels, posters, and workshops, CMS conferences provide the opportunity to consider the philosophy and practice of music as an integral part of higher education. Through formal sessions and open discussions, these programs provide an opportunity to share insights and perspectives on teaching, to experience new and regional musics, and to consider future directions for the art of music.
