FAIR TRADE LONG BEACH
Fair Trade Long Beach (FTLB) is a coalition of activists, advocates, and ethical businesses working to increase the availability and use of Fair Trade products throughout Long Beach, California and the surrounding communities.
To earn a designation as a Fair Trade Town, the committee is in the process of identifying the required number of retailers that sell Fair Trade products and 47 organizations that serve fair trade items at their meetings or offices. In the near future, the committee will ask the Long Beach City Council to pass a resolution declaring Long Beach's dedication to fair trade practices.
Fair Trade Long Beach is part of a global movement to normalize fair trade as an institutional practice and consumer preference across 24 countries and on six continents. More than 1,400 communities and thousands of schools and congregations on six continents have joined together to alleviate poverty through fair trade. We are working to get the city of Long Beach, home to nearly 500,000 people, to identify and seek fair trade retailers and products within their home city
