Upcycling Workshop: Turn Your Socks Into Pot Holders
October 27, 11:00am
Inspired by Long Beach Recycles Bring Your Own (BYO) month, Rancho Los Alamitos is bringing back their upcycling workshop. Learn how to transform clean, well-worn socks into potholders and trivets. Tour the historic kitchen with a look into household sustainability practices. Then, the Rancho's Public Programs Coordinator, Margarete, will lead a hands-on weaving workshop using sock scraps.
Learn how to repurpose socks to create a new, functional, and reusable pot holder. We hope you will be inspired to think creatively about ways to reuse older materials into something new again.
All supplies will be provided, and we encourage participants to bring well-worn pairs of socks. Participants will be able to take home one pot holder, and the sources to buy the weaving materials that will be provided, too. The workshop will take place in our historic Gardens.
Space is limited. Recommended for adults, teens, and families with children 8 years and older. Tickets are $20 per person.
