Join Mayor Rex Richardson for the 9th Annual Long Beach Holiday Tree Lighting on November 28
(NOVEMBER 20, 2023 – Long Beach, CA) Experience the joy of the holidays in Long Beach with the biggest and brightest holiday kick-off event in the region! Join Mayor Rex Richardson as he lights the tallest Christmas tree in Long Beach at the city’s 9th annual Christmas Tree Lighting event.
This dazzling display will take place on the Long Beach Terrace Theater Plaza, November 28, 5-8 p.m. With live performances, falling snow, food trucks and Santa Claus, culminating with a dazzling fireworks show, the tree lighting promises to be a memorable start to the 2023 holiday season.
The Plaza will be decorated through the New Year with more than 500,000 lights on and around the 67-foot tall tree, as well as larger-than-life-sized decorations perfect for creating great holiday memories and social media posts. Plus, the location is within walking distance of attractions, restaurants, and shopping, making for a perfect holiday night out.
“The Long Beach tree lighting is an exciting local tradition for families each holiday season, and I can’t wait to flip the switch to light our city’s tallest tree at this year’s event,” said Mayor Rex Richardson. “There will be performances by the Long Beach Ballet, SoCal Vocal and local musicians, plus an incredible light and firework show. This is an unforgettable way to kick off the holiday season.”
“I am thrilled to invite First District residents and the whole City of Long Beach to the free annual tree lighting in our beautiful Downtown Long Beach,” said First District Councilwoman Mary Zendejas. “From falling snow to Santa Claus, it’s sure to be a night to remember.”
The tree lighting event will include live performances by dancers from the Long Beach Ballet, who will share segments of “The Nutcracker,” which is playing at the Long Beach Terrace Theater this holiday season. Other performers include a brass choir with trumpets and French horns, acapella group SoCal Vocals, singer Terron Brooks, and the Lucky Devils Band.
Attendees will also be able to purchase food, drinks, and holiday treats from food trucks parked on the plaza. Children can have their picture taken with Santa and ride the holiday trains on the plaza. Your whole family can take holiday photos with the plaza’s holiday lights, decorations like a walk-in snow globe and giant ornaments, and dancing fountains as backdrops. Then, join the mayor in the countdown to lighting the tree, and delight in the grand finale as snow falls and fireworks soar into the sky from the roof of the Terrace Theater.
“The Long Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center invite everyone to enjoy this free holiday spectacular in the heart of downtown,” said Steve Goodling, President & CEO of the Long Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau. “We encourage residents and visitors alike to visit the Terrace Theater Plaza throughout the holidays, and enjoy shopping and special holiday meals with loved ones at our amazing local restaurants.”
