The 2015 video contest and Sandy Awards were so successful the Long Beach CVB has made the contest an annual event and expanded it to include still photography as well as videos. For this year’s Sandy Awards, 25 videos and 187 images have been submitted.
Two sets of prizes will be awarded: one set from an online FAN vote and one set from a CVB staff vote. Winners will receive unique trophies and cash prizes.
VIP award presenters include: Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia, Police Chief Robert Luna, Fire Chief Mike DuRee, City Auditor Laura Doud, MOLAA Executive Director Stuart Ashman, Long Beach Museum of Art Executive Director Ron Nelson, Queen Mary Commodore Everette Hoard, Aquarium of the Pacific curator Dudley Wigdahl, and Community Activist Justin Rudd.
Arriving contestants and guests will walk the red carpet into the Pacific Room for a gala evening of food, fun, games and music. Prior to the awards ceremony guests can view video and photo entries in lounge-style galleries while enjoying complimentary In & Out burgers, plus appetizers, popcorn, candy and other snacks by Premiere SMG Catering. DJ Ron will provide musical entertainment.

The Long Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau is the official entity contracted by the City of Long Beach to promote the city as a meetings and tourism destination.
