The Long Beach Motorsports Walk of Fame Ceremony was created in 2006 to honor key contributors to the sport of auto racing.

The “Walk” is located on a broad public sidewalk on South Pine Avenue, directly in front of the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment and across from The Pike At Rainbow Harbor entertainment complex.


The Long Beach Motorsports Walk of Fame Ceremony is a joint project of the City of Long Beach and the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach and each year during the Grand Prix of Long Beach race week, new members are inducted and honored with a special ceremony and the installation of a 22-inch bronze medallion into the palm-lined sidewalk.

Downtown Long Beach is the perfect location for the Motorsports Walk of Fame, hosting its first open wheel street race in 1975, making the Grand Prix of Long Beach the oldest on-the-street auto race in North America.

The Long Beach Motorsports Walk of Fame Ceremony’s first two honorees in 2006 were drivers Phil Hill and Dan Gurney. The following year the Walk honored Chris Pook, founder of the Long Beach Grand Prix and Brian Redman, winner of that first Long Beach race in 1975.
